I'd ask if people are supposed to grow out of this stuff by the age of ten, but then there were plenty regular schmucks who ate this shit up come wintertime back home, too. Not much business to be done this time of year aside from the usual. [And he hates the usual.] Guess you could say we hibernate. If everybody else gets to throw a string of lights and tinsel on their problems and pretend everybody's nice to each other for a couple weeks, then taking a break ain't so bad.

[Leave alone that he can remember when it was only easy to deal around the times that people would be throwing parties. New Years would kick shit up. But the dependent ones -- they tended to find succor in the millions of charity works that popped up only in December. It was about finding a place to stay warm, not to move and shake things, and that's where Top Dollar always fell out of favor with the rest.]

But it sure is good to be hungry again.

Since I guess we're supposed to be making Admiral requests: I want everybody to have the one thing they want but shouldn't have. Least that oughta make things interesting.
